Just a few moments ago, my sister walked into the room and told me that my friend's dad just passed away.

He wasn't just any friend's dad - he was Rhiza's dad, our dear Tito Bob. Though not related by blood, we've always felt a special kinship between our families. You see, when mom was in college, Tito Bob and his wife were part of a student center ministry. They were the ones who persistently ministered to our mom during those years. Needless to say, most who know his influence in her life can testify that his ministry still bears fruit through her to this day.

As most deaths, it's sad to know he won't be around anymore. But for us who knew him and how much God has used him, we know we are not at a loss. We know that even if he is no longer with us physically, he has left a legacy that will be kept alive by those people whose lives he has touched.

Of course we will miss him, but the Lord always knows better. So here's something for us, especially to you, Rhiz, my dear sister. As our hearts grow heavy, let this be the song our hearts sing to Him who has given and taken away.

Be still, my soul the Lord is on your side
Bear patiently the cross of grief and pain
Leave to your God to order and provide
In every change He faithful will remain
Be still my Soul, your best, your heavenly friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end
Be still my soul Your God will undertake
to guide the future as he has the past
Your hope your confidence let nothing shake
Oh now mysterious shall be bright at last
Be still my soul
The waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while he lived below
Be still, my soul,
Be still, my soul,
Be still...
